De Facto Sibling Rules

De Facto Sibling Rules
Today I was watching the movie, “Step Brothers“, featuring Will Ferrell and John C. Riley. If you have not seen it yet, I highly recommend it. Its hilarious. While I was enjoying the movie yet again, I realized some of the de facto rules among siblings while growing up. Almost everybody who has a sibling would have face these rules forced upon them or them forcing it to their siblings. This rules are primarily controlled by the older sibling as the younger ones are always the subject of implementation. I thought of sharing it with you, some of the rules that are ever present in every child’s life while growing up.
  1. If I like it, it’s mine.
  2. If I am holding it, it’s mine.
  3. It I can take it from you, it’s mine.
  4. If I had it a little while ago, it’s mine.
  5. If I am chewing something up, all the pieces are mine.
  6. If it’s mine, it must never appear to be yours anyway.
  7. If it just looks like mine, it’s mine.
  8. If I saw it first, it’s mine.
  9. If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.
  10. If it’s broken, it’s yours.

The thing about siblings rivalry is totally natural. No matter how hard you try, you can not avoid it. Especially, if the age difference is minimal. The hatred, the agony and the sabotage is just part of life and you are looking opportunities to get one over your sibling. However, when you look back at those fights with your siblings, they are adorable and laughing stock. Some good times!

That’s so true, I mean, I got no siblings but yeah, sibling rivalry can be a pain in the ass to deal with,

For some reason, this doesn’t apply to me. I have two younger brothers. They annoy me a lot more than I annoy them :/

As I like to say in these situations, there is always an exception to every rules. Haha!
